>TDU< S/N Cards is extremely fast, compact, and easy to operate. It allows you to store an incredible amount of data and search through it almost instantly. For each record, you are given a card 8 lines high in which to store all of your data. This free-form method does not tie you down, so that you can enter your data, your way, for each record. >TDU< S/N Cards was designed to be used as an online tool.
STARTING UP
Click on the >TDU< S/N Cards and if you do not have a >TDU<Data, >TDU< S/N Cards will create a >TDU<Data on your disk and you will now see the first and only card in your database. You may want to click in the card area and type in a message
ENTERING DATA
Hit the <enter> key when the blinking cursor is at the top of the window, next to the word FIND, this will add a new card to the file and display that empty card on the screen (you can alternatively use ADD S/N CARD from the menus). Click inside the the card and type in some information, then hit the <tab> key when you are through and you are back at the top of the
window (you could also click up there). Continue doing this until you get a few cards filled in.
USING >TDU< S/N Cards
Back at the top of the window, hit the <return> key a couple of times and you will see your cards flip by in sequence or <shift and return> to move bachwords in sequence. To search for a card, type a word that you know is in one of the cards, hit <return>, and your card will be displayed. Now hit the <tab> key to clear your search text (or just backspace) and this time just type a single letter that you know is in more than one card. If you continue hitting the <return> key, every card that has that letter in it will be displayed in sequence. You can just hold the <return> and speed through everything, works with <shift and return> too.

>TDU<Data
>TDU<Data is a text file, meaning it can be read by any word processing program like MS Word and can also be transmitted over phone lines very easily using a modem and a communications program. When you open up >TDU<Data (run the program first, then open >TDU<Data), you will see two asterisks at the beginning of the file, then you will see your first card, followed by another asterisk (if you see three asterisks at the top of the file, your first card is blank), and so on. >TDU<File uses an asterisk and a carriage return to separate the cards in your file. This simple format is extremely useful if you already have the data typed in somewhere else because all you need to do to get the data into >TDU< S/N Cards is to get a text file out of whatever program you are using, separate the records with an asterisk and a carriage return, and rename the file >TDU<Data. If you need to output your >TDU<Data to paper, open it, search and replace all asterisks with spaces, cut out what is not needed, change the font if you want and print it. Whenever you want to save your >TDU<Data, choose SAVE AS ... and make sure it is saved in TEXT ONLY format.
